Arthur has won all six of his bouts since his 2008 comeback

Welsh boxer Jamie Arthur warmed-up for his British featherweight title shot with an unconvincing points victory over Mickey Coveney at Newport Centre.

The 29-year-old won 59-56 on points in their six-round bout, extending Arthur's unbeaten run to seven fights since his comeback 18 months ago.

Coveney's defeat on Friday was the Londoner's fifth successive loss.

Arthur, the 2002 Commonwealth gold medallist, is to fight Martin Lindsay for the British crown on 5 February.
