Garland has the second fastest British 400m time so far this year

Guernsey 400m runner Dale Garland has said he will be fully prepared for the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Doha in March.

The Sarnian sprinter made the grade for both the relay and individual events when he ran under 47 seconds at the National Indoor Arena at the weekend.

Garland told BBC Guernsey: "When you're a fifth or sixth member of the squad you've still got to be professional.

"I've written out my training plan for the next few weeks."

Garland was on the fringes of the relay squad for the European Indoor Championships last year, but this time he is certain of an appearance in a GB vest.

His time of 46.95 seconds at the Indoor National Arena was the second fastest by a British athlete over 400m in 2010.
