A collision in race two put Priaulx into the pits |
Guernsey driver Andy Priaulx had mixed fortunes in Brazil for the opening two races of the 2010 FIA World Touring Car Championship season. In race one at the Curitiba track he finished fifth in his BMW Team RBM car. In race two he was in a collision with Gabriele Tarquini's Seat and ended up back in the pits with a broken front right wheel. "Of course I am disappointed by the outcome of race two - but that's motor racing," Priaulx said. "The car was strong and I felt confident of a podium position in race two, but these sort of collisions happen. "The first races of the season are always educational as we find out what we can do and also what the opposition has achieved over the winter. "I may not be leaving Brazil with as many points as I wanted, but I know we can fight with the others." A fourth place and a win each for Tarquini and Chevrolet's Yvan Muller see the pair leading the way after the first round of racing. Priaulx is currently seventh with 10 points and team-mate Augusto Farfus lies in sixth with 16.
