Priaulx finished fourth overall while Tarquini won the championship |
Andy Priaulx suffered a disappointing end to his World Touring Car Championship in China, finishing the season in fourth place. Priaulx was forced to retire from race one and started race two from the back of the grid, eventually finishing 13th. He had qualified second in the first race but the BMW Team UK driver hit the barrier before the first corner. The results meant BMW lost to Seat in the manufacturers' championship by just three points. Meanwhile in the drivers' title, Seat's Gabriele Tarquini, beat Priaulx's BMW teammate Augusto Farfus, who won race two. Tarquini, 47, became the oldest FIA World Champion, breaking a record held since 1957 by Argentine Juan-Manuel Fangio when he claimed his fifth F1 title aged 46.
