Priaulx raced with the team in the Phillip Island 500 |
Guernsey racing driver Andy Priaulx is set to compete in Australia's biggest motor race, the Bathurst 1000. The three time World Touring Car champion will join the Bundaberg Red Racing team as part of the V8 Supercars Season of Endurance. It is his second team race after the Phillip Island 500 last month. "My preparation for the big race has been two back-to-back events in different cars on different continents," said Priaulx. 'Podium a possibility' After the World Touring Car Championship round in Imola, Italy, Priaulx headed to Atlanta, in the United States, for the Petit Le Mans. But unlike the event at Phillip Island, Priaulx will head into the Bathurst round with knowledge of the circuit under his belt, where he last raced in 2003. Priaulx will be racing with David Reynolds, with practice starting on Thursday and qualifying on Friday. On his website he wrote: "I am ready for the challenge having found my V8 legs at Phillip Island. I am looking to bring home a good result for Dave and the team. "I am now really fired up and I think a podium at Bathurst is in our grasp."
