Barnstaple ready for tennis open

Heather Watson
Watson was the first British girl to win the US Junior Open

The first round of Aegon Pro-Series Barnstaple starts on Wednesday at the Tarka Tennis centre.

Grand Slam Junior winners Heather Watson, 17, and Laura Robson, 15, are both set to appear and will join forces for the doubles competition.

Watson became the first British winner of the US Open girls' singles in August, whilst Robson won Junior Wimbledon in July 2008.

Elsewhere in the first round Cornwall's Jade Curtis, 19, will face Tara Moore.

Watson is set to play Melanie South (GBR) in the first round of her campaign while Robson will line up against Naomi Cavaday (GBR).
