Southampton fought back from two goals down to reach the Johnstone's Paint Trophy quarter-finals after a penalty shoot-out against League Two Torquay.
Saints fell behind when keeper Kelvin Davis's error allowed Tim Sills to poke in and Nicky Wroe scored from the spot after Davis had felled Tyrone Thompson.
Papa Waigo responded with a brace, with both goals coming from close range.
Southampton then scored all five of their penalties while Davis saved from Kevin Nicholson to seal victory.
Southampton coach Stewart Henderson told BBC Radio Solent:
"We started quite well, but then we conceded a soft goal and that put us on the back foot.
"At the end of the day we're through, and that's what matters.
"You're not sure what to expect from him [Papa Waigo]. He's making progress though."
