BMW's decision to quit Formula One will not affect their participation in the World Touring Car Championship and Andy Priaulx's position as driver.

Priaulx's manager Tim Thompson said: "We understand it (the Formula One pull out) won't have any bearing on our current programme.

"Obviously it is a commercial decision and it's too early to know exactly what is going to happen.

"But it's a huge blow to everybody who works in BMW Motorsport."

Thompson added: "It will hopefully put some more budget towards the development of the new car for certainly 2011, when the engine rules change.

"There are hundreds of people who work for BMW Motorsport and F1, and their future is as yet undecided."
