Beere is girlfriend of fellow bowler Matt Le Ber

Guernsey's Lucy Beere says she was gutted not to win gold in the World Champion of Champions Bowls event.

In Tuesday's close final in Scotland, she lost out to Australia's Kelsey Cottrell by just one point (6-6 6-5).

"Although I lost, it actually felt like I'd won. Deep down inside I am gutted because I wanted it to be gold, but that's how bowls goes," said Beere.

"I had a few chances and unfortunately they didn't go for me like they did in the semi-final."

Beere secured her place in the final by beating Ireland's Bernie O'Neil 10-9 12-0 on Monday.

In the men's event, fellow islander Matt Le Ber lost out in the quarter-finals to Emmanuel Portacio from the Philippines 9-4 8-4.
