Priaulx was delighted with his first win of the 2009 season |
Guernsey racing driver Andy Priaulx claimed his first win of the 2009 FIA World Touring Car Championship season in spectacular style in Oschersleben. The triple world champion fought his way to the front from 14th on the grid at BMW's home race and followed the win with a second place in race two. "It's just amazing how things work out. It is nice to win a race but not nice to start 14th on the grid," he said. "I have not won a race since Pau last year so this was long overdue." The results saw Priaulx move up from seventh to fourth in the drivers' world championship on 66 points. SEAT's Gabriele Tarquini leads the drivers' table with 91 points with six rounds of the championship to go.
