Srichaphan is one of his country's most famous celebrities and he is also a huge favourite with crowds around the world.

Last year, the 24-year-old became the first Asian to break into the world's top 10 - winning two titles in all and reaching four semi-finals.

He first made a name for himself at Wimbledon in 2002 when he put out US star Andre Agassi in the second round and his career has been on an upward spiral ever since.

The talented right-hander has a powerful game but his fans should not expect too much of him at Roland Garros on his least favourite surface.

He began the European clay-court season with two straight defeats and needed three sets to beat an Italian qualifier at the Rome Masters before he fell to Marat Safin.

He then stumbled to defeat to Olivier Rochus in the first round in Hamburg.
