Coria bears the look of a French Open champion in waiting.

Rivalled only by Juan Carlos Ferrero as the best clay-court player in the world, the Argentine might have triumphed at Roland Garros last year.

Having cruised to the semi-finals, he stuttered against Martin Verkerk - but he bounced back by going onto win three successive titles on clay.

And in May this year, he made it an astonishing 31 straight wins on the dirt, after lifting the Monte Carlo Masters title and then reaching the Hamburg final.

But Coria has shown he can also be a threat on the faster surfaces, and he reached the final of the Miami Masters in March.

Coria is one of the quickest players around and his ability to scrap from the back of the court is unmatched by any of his contemporaries, bar perhaps Lleyton Hewitt.

His only weakness is his fitness and a groin strain prevented him competing in the Rome Masters in May, while a blister on his hand hampered him in the Hamburg final against Roger Federer.
