Lafeber claims maiden win

Holland's Marteen Lafeber won his first tour title to clinch the Dutch Open by one shot at Hilversum Golf Club.

The 28-year-old carded a final round of 67 to hold off the challenges of Dane Soren Hansen and Swede Mathias Gronberg.

Lafeber became the first Dutchman to win the evetn since 1947 and only the third man from his country to win on the European Tour.

Hansen, who led overnight, missed a birdie putt at the 18th, leaving Lafeber two putts from four feet.

His first effort slid past but he sank the tap-in to break his tournament duck.

"I was so glad not to have to make that putt on the last. I have wanted to win so badly in the last few months," Lafeber said.

"It was a dream come true, it feels incredible. I don't know what to say. I played really solid golf."

Welshman Jamie Donaldson finished joint fourth on 10 under alongside another Dane, Steen Tinning, who eagled the last in his penultimate event before retiring with a back injury.
