Widmark holds a two-shot lead at the halfway stage |
Fredrik Widmark added a four-under 66 to his opening 65 to take a two-shot lead into the third round of the Dutch Open in Hilversumche. The Swede heads a group of five players on seven-under, which includes tour veteran Gordon Brand Jnr.
Jamie Donaldson, Paul Eales, David Lynn and Gary Murphy are all three back while joint overnight leader Alastair Forsyth slipped back with a 72.
Scotland's Sandy Lyle had an encouraging 67 but still missed the halfway cut.
Lyle's early exit means he now only has one more chance - at the Madrid Open - to climb back into the top 40 on the Order of Merit.
 | The career money list is becoming obsolete |
Failure to do so will mean he loses his tour card for the first time since winning the qualifying school in 1977.
Lyle has called for a revamp in the way the money list is calculated and is backed by Gordon Brand Jr, who is on a group of five players lying two shots off Widmark.
"The career money list is becoming obsolete," said Brand Jnr.
"It should be where you finished, how many tournaments you won, because you've got people passing me now who have won one tournament.
"When Sandy and I were playing I finished seventh in the Order of Merit and won two titles (in 1982) and won 38,000 pounds.
"The top 10 in the this year are winning one million pounds."
