How to survive penalty shoot-outs
5. Being in control
Players need to know and remember that ultimately they are in control of the situation.

Until they are ready, nothing is going to happen - the ball is not going to be kicked, fans cannot react and so on.

They should remember that they have the ultimate power.

We often see players approaching the penalty spot looking extremely nervous, like they want the experience to be over as quickly as possible.

Players who are not in control have a much higher chance of missing.
