They were all out for 50 and India took little time in wrapping up the win without losing any wickets.
Jenny Gunn top-scored with 13 and five England players failed to score as they capitulated in 30.4 overs.
Fast bowler Jhulan Goswami took five wickets for 16 runs and Amit Sharma and Neetu David weighed in with two each.
"It was a big game and to go out on this note was very disappointing.
"There were 20,000 fans watching which made it even worse," captain Charlotte Edwards commented.
Laura Harper and Caroline Atkins were again absent from the team because of illness.
England now trail 3-1 with one to play and hope to have a full squad to pick from for the final match in Calcutta on Friday.
