Braintree and Boston fought out a goalless National League draw on a freezing night in Essex.

Boston should have gone ahead after 27 minutes when the ball was fizzed across the Braintree goal but Lenell John-Lewis could not finish into an empty net.

The striker missed another good chance before half-time after controlling the ball on his chest only to miss the target.

John Akinde went close for Braintree late on but his header was straight at United keeper Rhys Lovett.
