Woking started their new year in style by thrashing 10-man Hartlepool in the National League.

Olly Sanderson's fine early header from Caleb Richards' cross gave Neal Ardley's side an early lead and Chinwike Okoli doubled Woking's advantage in the 30th minute.

Hartlepool were reduced to 10 men in first-half stoppage time when defender Cameron John was shown a straight red card for his late challenge on Josh Osude.

Skipper Harry Beautyman added Woking's third in the 76th minute with a neat finish into the bottom corner and Ashley Boatswain fired home from Tariq Hinds' cross in the closing stages to complete a miserable afternoon for Pools.

Victory lifted Woking to 11th in the table, two points behind their visitors, who remain 10th.
