National League strugglers Gateshead have signed Leyton Orient goalkeeper Noah Phillips on a three-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old has made six appearances for the O's this season but boss Richie Wellens said last week that he would be willing to loan him out to gain more experience.

Lee Cattermole's side, who play away at Kidderminster on Wednesday, have taken four points from their opening six league matches.

Gateshead have signed forward Freddie Issaka on loan from League One side Plymouth Argyle until January.

The 20-year-old holds the record as Argyle's youngest-ever first-team player after making his debut aged 15 years and 34 days on 31 August 2021.

He spent time on loan with Bristol Rovers in League One and made eight substitute appearances for the Pirates.

He then went on to join Truro City and made 14 appearances in the National League during a loan spell last season.

Gateshead have signed defender Harrison Holgate and forward Jordy Hiwula in deals until the end of the season.

Holgate, 26, was a free agent after leaving League Two Fleetwood Town where he had spent his entire career, playing more than a century of games for them.

Much-travelled Hiwula, 31, was last at fellow National League side Boston United, for whom he scored seven goals in 39 appearances last season.

The pair are both eligible for Gateshead's fixture at home to Solihull Moors on Saturday (15:00 BST).

Wealdstone have signed midfielder Tyrelle Newton on a season-long loan deal from Gateshead.

The 22-year-old started his career at Luton Town and signed his first professional contract with the Hatters in 2022.

He left the club as a free agent in 2024 and joined Gateshead where he has made 52 appearances, scoring four goals.

Irish striker David Eguaibor has joined Lee Cattermole's Gateshead on a two-year deal from Scottish League One side Cove Rangers.

Eguaibor, 22, scored 11 goals in his one season with Cove following his move from Irish side Cobh Ramblers.

He told the National League club website, external: "When I went to Scotland, I learned a lot. I learned fast as well and hopefully I can bring that here, score goals and get regular game time as well.

"I can't wait to get started. I just want to come in, score goals and work hard."

Gateshead have signed midfielder Keon Lewis-Burgess on loan until January from League One club Milton Keynes Dons.

The 19-year-old has played six EFL Trophy games for the Dons but has yet to make his debut in the English Football League.

He spent last season on loan with Billericay Town, making 31 appearances as they won promotion to National League South.

Gateshead have signed defender Alex Lankshear on a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.

The 23-year-old, who is the older brother of Middlesbrough striker Will Lankshear, played 35 games for Boston United last season before going on loan to Ebbsfleet.

He cited the presence of manager Lee Cattermole as one of the attractions for the move to the north-east.

"I'm a defender that loves to defend his goal but also attack the goal," he told the club website, external.

"One of my goals this year is to get better in attacking. One of the reasons I wanted to come here is that I think he can really develop my game on that side of things.

"At this stage in my career it's about progressing. He played at the top levels and I feel he can progress me as a player."

Lankshear could make his debut in Gateshead's first home National League game of the season against Woking on Saturday.

Carlisle United have signed goalkeeper Adam Desbois from National League rivals Gateshead for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old arrives at Brunton Park where he will link up with former boss Rob Elliot again, on a two-year contract with the option of a further year.

Desbois, who initially came through the Reading academy, played an important role in Gateshead's relegation escape under Elliot last season, keeping five clean sheets in 12 appearances including one at Carlisle in April.

"He has excellent technical qualities, is a very good shot-stopper and is comfortable with the ball at his feet, which gives him the ability to play the way we want to play," Elliot told the club website, external.

"He's already shown his quality consistently at this level.

"We believe he'll be a really strong addition to the group and we're looking forward to working with him and helping him continue to develop."

Before his move to Gateshead, Desbois spent the first part of last season with Slough Town, making 33 league appearances in the National League South.
