Marcus Wyllie opened his account for Aldershot to fire his new club to victory over Halifax in the National League.

Ex-Gillingham forward Wyllie was one of the first signings made by new boss Scott Davies in May and got off the mark for the Shots with 10 minutes left at The Recreation Ground.

It helped Aldershot extended their unbeaten run to four matches to continue a strong start to life under former Slough player-manager Davies.

After debutant loan goalkeeper Jonathan Macaulay denied Halifax's Amari Morgan-Smith early on, the hosts were awarded a spot-kick, but Tristan Abrahams was denied by Stoke loanee True Grant in the 27th minute.

It remained goalless at the break and Davies shuffled his pack midway though the second half which proved inspired when substitutes Alfonso Tenconi-Gradillas and Broady Peart combined to set up Wyllie, who fired home the winner from 12 yards.
