Rekeem Harper and Corey Edwards struck in the second half before Barrow held off a late fightback to claim a 2-1 win at Tamworth in the National League.

The visitors went close to taking the lead before the break when Seb Thompson forced a save from Tamworth goalkeeper Rhys Lovett while Ben Winterbottom produced a double stop at the other end to deny Tom McGlinchey and Joe Rye.

Harper opened the scoring with a 51st-minute penalty – his fifth goal in five outings – after Alex Reid was fouled by Lovett and Edwards doubled the lead when he fired in off the post following good work by Arian Allen.

Tamworth were given a late lifeline when Teo Kurturan scored an 89th-minute penalty but Ben Acquaye missed a chance to equalise in stoppage time.
