Brandon Njoku struck a stoppage-time winner as Sutton boosted their National League survival hopes with a 2-1 win at Scunthorpe.
Njoku nodded in a cross from fellow substitute David Ogbonna to help Sutton move nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Connor Smith missed a glorious chance for Scunthorpe on the stroke of half-time and was punished when Osman Foyo tapped in a rebound after goalkeeper Louis Jones had denied Jermaine Francis to put Sutton ahead five minutes into the second half.
The visitors, thrashed 5-0 at home by Morecambe at the weekend, saw their lead last just two minutes as Danny Whitehall notched his 18th goal of the season – and seventh in as many games – following a scramble from a corner.
But Njoku had the final say to leave stuttering sixth-placed Scunthorpe with just one win in eight games.
