The Sanday Agricultural and Industrial Show was held on Friday 3rd August this year. Though the weather could have been better it was lucky to be just before the foot and mouth restrictions. Here are a few photographs from the show.

A Storm Overnight ~ Images

We woke on Sunday morning to find that in the overnight storm the waves had come over the sea bank and caused some flooding and damage to stone dykes.

Waves splash over the sea bank of the Bay of Brough at 8:58am.

Water on the fields at Corsequoy at 10:28am.

The sea has demolished this stone dyke which was last rebuilt after the storms of January 2005.

The track to Corsequoy and the Bay of Brough at 10:29am.

Though the weather has been wet of late, March started off quite nicely. The Fulmar above seems to be enjoying the sun and light breeze on the Ness of Brough on the 2nd March this year.
We have, so far this year, seen very little snow, but there is still plenty of time. The photographs below were taken on the 4th March last year.

Most of the young birds have left their nests by now, but here are two that must be close to out-staying their welcome. This is the nest in picture 3 of my last post.

Great care is needed at the moment , when out walking on Sanday , to avoid damaging the nests of ground nesting birds. Here are just a few of the nests I came across on a recent walk.
If anyone can positively identify the eggs/chicks please do so in the comments section.
