 | | | | | "There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from a top medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion - it's a great programme to present."

 | | | | Homeopathy
Whether you think it's a miracle cure or complete mumbo-jumbo, homeopathy is more popular than ever.
It's had endorsements from on high – David Beckham, Paul McCartney and the Queen are all fans. And for us lesser mortals, homeopathic treatments are even available on the NHS.
'Like cures like' Homeopathy works on the old adage 'like cures like'. So an ailment is treated with a very dilute solution of a substance that causes the same symptoms.
Devotees have found homeopathy particularly effective in treating diverse conditions such as allergies, flu, irritable bowel syndrome, phobias, sports injuries and emotional problems.
Some doctors remain sceptical, arguing that the solutions are so dilute that they only work as a placebo effect.
But an increasing number of doctors now take post-doctorate training in homeopathy, and you can also find dentists and vets offering treatment.
Contact us Call Check Up this week with all your questions on homeopathy. How do you find qualified practitioners? Can you get homeopathic treatments on the NHS?
When is it safe to buy over-the-counter remedies and when should you consult an expert? Can you take remedies in conjunction with conventional medicine?
This week's guest Presenter Barbara Myers will be joined by Dr Kathy Ryan, a qualified GP and homeopath, to answer all your questions about homeopathy.
You can ask a question, or give us your comments by calling 08700 100 400, or emailing [email protected].
Next week's topic is Cholesterol.
