Vote for the greatest Free Thinker from the history of the North East!
Free Thinking is dedicating four events to the extraordinary lives of T Dan Smith, Gertrude Bell, William Armstrong and The Literary and Philosophical society and you can hear studies of these Thinkers both live at the festival weekend and on Radio 3 at 11.00pm from Monday 26th - Thursday 29th October.
The subject of this final edition of The Essay, recorded at the Free Thinking Festival, was decided by a public vote - for the Greatest North-Eastern Free Thinker.
The winner of the public vote, announced in Night Waves on 19th October, was Bede (also known as 'The Venerable Bede').
This event will be broadcast in Radio 3's The Essay on Friday 30 October.
