Event 07.
Family Stories:
A Literary History of the Family

- Saturday 24 October
- 12.15pm - 1.15pm
- The Sage Gateshead, Northern Rock Foundation Hall
"All happy families are alike, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way", said the novelist Leo Tolstoy. Is he right?
BBC Radio Drama and local writers have been working together to examine family life today. They join social historian Hester Barron and Free Thinking writers-in-residence Fiona Evans and Karen Laws to discuss why the family has been so important to authors and playwrights, and read aloud their specially-created work, along with some of the most evocative family writing of the past.
This event will be recorded for future broadcast in Radio 3's Night Waves.
