Gregory Porter
Gregory is an American jazz vocalist, songwriter and actor from Bakersfield, California. Part of the original Broadway cast of 'It Ain’t Nothing Bit the Blues,' his subsequent debut album 'Water' in 2010 was nominated for Best Jazz Vocal album at the Grammy Awards and he has gone on to become one of the most renowned jazz vocalists of the decade. The title track of his follow up album 'Be Good' was nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance at the 55th Grammy Awards and the extraordinary vocals on his 2013 Grammy-winning album 'Liquid Spirit' confirmed his reputation as "a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift" (The New York Times). He gained worldwide acclaim for his collaboration with dance act Disclosure (their single 'Holding On' was no. 1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart) and his electric performance at Glastonbury Festival in 2015 led to sold out shows at the Royal Albert Hall and The Birmingham Symphony Hall.
