Anthony recently completed a three-year tenure at Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center, where he made his debut as Montano [Otello]. He was Yamadori (and Sharpless cover) [Madama Butterfly], the Jailer (& Sacristan cover) [Tosca], the Servant (and cover for the Count) [Capriccio], the Hunter (and Gamekeeper cover) [Rusalka], Commissario (Baron and Marquis cover) [La Traviata] and covered in Don Giovanni, Wolfram in Tannhäuser and Fiorello in Il Barbière di Siviglia.
He makes his debut in the 2016/17 season as Sharpless [Madama Butterfly] with San Francisco Opera and will make his Metropolitan Opera debut as the Huntsman [Rusalka] while covering Riccardo [I Puritani]. The previous season he made debuts with San Diego Opera as Sharpless and as Marcello with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. At Lyric Opera, Chicago Anthony created the role of Simon Thibault in the world premiere of Bel Canto, an adaptation of Ann Pratchett’s bestselling novel by composer Jimmy Lopez and Pulitzer prize-winning playwright, Nilo Cruz.
