Sioned Gwen Davies
Mezzo soprano from Wales - 30 years old
Sioned studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and completed her training at the National Opera Studio in London.
Sioned made her professional debut with Glyndebourne Festival Opera as part of the Jerwood Project in 2012, where she performed the role of Margarida (The Yellow Sofa). She returned to the festival in 2014 to understudy the roles of Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Annina (La Traviata).
Sioned performed the role of Kate (The Pirates of Penzance) for Scottish Opera in 2013 and was subsequently offered an “Emerging Artist” contract with the company for the 2013/14 season where her roles included Eduige (Rodelinda) and Third Witch (Macbeth). Since then she has performed an Opera Highlights tour of Scotland, Third Dryad (Rusalka) and Pitti-Sing (The Mikado) all with Scottish Opera.
Recent engagements include her Spanish debut as Olga (Eugene Onegin) for Valladolid Opera and she’ll be returning to Scottish Opera in 2018. After BBC Cardiff Singer of the World she’ll begin rehearsals with Longborough Festival Opera as Second Lady (Die Zauberflote).
