Earlier this year the music industry was rocked when up-and-coming band Viola Beach were killed in a car crash while on tour in Sweden. Band members Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin and manager Craig Tarry all lost their lives, but their memory very much lives on with the outpouring of tributes as well as the imminent release of their self-titled debut album.
And throughout 2016, it's become clear how talented the boys were and the impression they made during their shortened career.
Coldplay did one of Viola Beach’s songs at this year’s Glastonbury instead of a David Bowie cover like they’d planned - a touching tribute that effectively allowed the Warrington lads to ‘headline’ the festival.

"We’re going to create Viola Beach's alternate future and let them headline Glastonbury"
In their honour, Ben Dunne, the dad of band member River Reeves, has organised a Warrington-based festival in the band's hometown. Its aim is to raise awareness and money for local youngsters.
Blossoms, the band Viola Beach were in the midst of supporting on tour, were naturally devastated by the disaster. But instead of replacing their support act they decided to play a recording of the band's final set in celebration of their talents, which was incredibly poignant.
And only this week have NME dedicated their front cover to them.
