SSANU, NASU strike affect activities for universities across Nigeria

Some students for universities across Nigeria no fit access dia classrooms on Monday sake of di warning strike wey di Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and di Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) start.
Di seven-day warning strike na sake of wetin di unions describe as di unfair treatment wey di Nigerian goment dey give dem.
Mohammed Ibrahim, di national Presido of Ssanu confirm for television on Monday morning say di strike don start as e be say goment no wan reason dia matter.
“As at today (Monday), all our workers for registry, bursary, works and maintenance, secruity, students affairs, don withdraw dia services and nothing go move for di administration of any public university in Nigeria," Ibrahim tok.
"And na like dat e go be for di next seven days until and unless goment do di needful.”
Ibrahim tok say President Bola Tinubu bin give directive make goment pay all university unions dia withheld four months salaries after all of dem bin go on strike during di last administration.
"But e shock us say na only ASUU dem pay out of di four workers unions wey dey universities. And even after we draw di attention of di Chief of Staff to di President and di Minister of Education, nothing don happen."
Ibrahim tok say since dem issue di notice of strike, "no goment official don reach out to us officially for dialogue".

Dem be di accountants for di bursaries, di security personnel, di clerks, secretaries, di medical unit workers, hostel porters, etc.
For di University of Jos, Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, students come school to see say di university gates dey locked. Both lecturers and students no fit enter.

"Even our exams don dey around di corner. GSTs suppose start next week. Year one students suppose start dia exams today but as e be like dis, e don dey postponed."
"I bin dey tink say lectures go dey go on as usual since no be ASUU members dey go strike, but now e don dey obvious say wen Nasu and Ssanu go strike, notin go fit function for school also."

Strikes na fairly regular occurrence for di Nigeria university system. Di most recent na di eight-month long industrial action wey di Academic Staff Union of Universities (Asuu) go from February reach October of 2022.
Na even di National Industrial Court bin settle di matter as e order di striking lecturers to return to dia classes while negotiations go continue between dem and goment.
Di regular strikes dey affect students badly as e dey make some of dem spend six or seven years for weti suppose be four years programme.
To avoid dis, some parents don dey enrol dia children for private universities, or di ones wey religious organisations get, but those ones dey usually dey very expensive.
