મિત્રો, તમે કેટલું સમજી શકયાં? છેલ્લી વ્યક્તિ જણાવે છે કે તેનો પિતરાઇ ભાઇ બહુ રમૂજી છે. હવે પ્રથમ વ્યક્તિને સાંભળો. તે કઈ રીતે જણાવે છે કે ‘jokes’ એટલે કે ટુચકો રમૂજી હોય છે?

તો, વ્યક્તિ 'really funny' નો ઉપયોગ કરે છે. ટોમ, શું આ કહેવાની બીજી પણ કોઈ રીત છે?

Here we had the adverb 'really' – which is similar to 'very'. We can use different adverbs to say how funny something is. We can make it stronger by saying something is 'incredibly funny', or we can make it weaker by saying it's 'quite funny'.

Hilarious is an adjective that means 'very funny' and it gives us the noun 'hilarity'. Both of these forms are stressed on the second syllable – it's hilarious and hilarity. Listen to the pronunciation and repeat after me:

તો, વ્યક્તિને પોતાનાં સહ-કર્મચારીઓનાં કારણે 'laughs' એટલે કે હંસવુ આવે છે. ગુજરાતીમાં 'makes me' નો અર્થ થાય છે કંઈક અનુભવનું કારણ. તમે આ અભિવ્યક્તિ સાથે સર્વનામ ‘you’ નો ઉપયોગ કરી શકો છો.

Obviously, if something is funny it can make you laugh – it might also 'make you smile' or 'make you happy'. Listen to these examples and repeat after me:

Your jokes always make me smile.

Seeing my brother makes me happy.

તે ક્રિયાપદ 'crack' નો ઉપયોગ કરે છે. ગુજરાતીમાં 'crack' નો અર્થ થાય છે હંસાવવું.

If something or someone 'cracks you up' it means it makes you laugh a lot. We could also use it to describe laughing. For this, we use ‘be’. I could say: 'that joke is so funny – I am cracking up!'

અને છેલ્લે. જોઈએ કે તમને આગળ જે રૂઢિપ્રયોગ વિશે વાત કરી, તે તમને યાદ છે કે નહીં. રૂઢિપ્રયોગનો ઉપયોગ કરીને પોતાના મિત્ર વિશે કંઈક જણાવો.
