डेव्हिड आणि मेगनमधलं हे संभाषण ऐका. आजच्या भागात एखादी बातमी कळल्यानंतर त्याला प्रतिसाद देताना कुठल्या प्रकारचे इंग्रजी शब्द वापरतात ते शिकू. नीट ऐका, डेव्हिड कुठली test म्हणजे कुठली परीक्षा देतोय काही लक्षात येतंय का?

डेव्हिडने 'driving test' म्हणजे गाडी चालवण्याची चाचणी दिली. प्रत्येक वाक्यात डेव्हिडने वेगळी बातमी दिली आहे आणि मेगननेही त्याला त्याप्रमाणे वेगवेगळा प्रतिसाद दिला आहे. पहिल्यावेळी तो म्हणाला तेव्हा त्याची test होणार होती, तेव्हा मेगन काय म्हणाली.

मेगन म्हणाली 'Good luck! 'आणि 'Hope it goes well' म्हणजे तुझी टेस्ट चांगली जाऊ दे. इथे It म्हणजे त्याची test. पण समजा एकापेक्षा जास्त परीक्षा असतील तर?

You would say 'they' – 'Hope they go well!'

You can also say 'I' in 'hope it goes well', but we like to make things shorter in English, so we usually just start with 'Hope…'

आणि आपल्याला दोन्ही वाक्यं दरवेळी एकत्र बोलायची गरज नाहीये. हो ना सॅम?

Oh no, you can just say one!

परत इथे दोन वेगवेगळी वाक्यं वापरलीत. ही एकत्र किंवा वेगवेगळीही वापरता येतील. इथे मेगन काय म्हणालीये? इथे तिने सहनुभूती उत्तर दिलंय. ती म्हणाली ‘I’m sorry to hear that!’…

…and if you want to make this stronger, say: 'I'm so sorry to hear that!'…

आणि नंतर म्हणाली …and second she said 'Better luck next time',  म्हणजे पुढच्यावेळी होईल नीट!

Again, this is short. You could say 'I wish you better luck next time!' or 'I hope you have better luck next time!' They all have the same meaning.

Quick practice of pronunciation – repeat after me:

Yes! You can also say ‘Good work!', 'Good job!', 'Excellent!', 'Amazing!', 'Wonderful!'…

आणि 'Congratulations!' Congratulations बऱ्याच ठिकाणी वापरता येतं. लग्न, वाढदिवस, बक्षीस समारंभ अनेक ठिकाणी... पण जेव्हा कोणी काही साध्य करतं तेव्हा 'Well done' वापरणं जास्त श्रेयस्कर ठरतं.
