Without Issac G, James G, and Joe N through holidays and the unfit Sam W it was time for a reshuffle. With the League already won it was more about pride especially with the Hogan Cup semi-final next week and it was a chance for others to stake their claim. As early as the first minute Foxhall broke the deadlock when Jordan W knocked over a beauty of a cross which some how eluded the keeper and cross the line for the opener. (0-1) After the early goal it was a drab affair from both sides who were limited to very little chances with Foxhall having the better of them, and Shore having none. Ollie C playing in a unfamiliar role of right fullback in place of Sam W did well throughout providing good support. Changes midway through the first half brought rewards with Tyler A smashing home a beauty from three inches giving the keeper no chance (surely a contender for the goal of the season) for the sheer accuracy of the finish. (0-2) South Shore was limited to long range efforts with Matty H and John W in commanding form with Craig B also in fine form. Half time: 0-2Foxhall now playing with the wind in their faces on a blustery Collins Park seemed to play better with there usual slick passing that has seen them destroy teams pretty much all season, so it was no surprise when Foxhall carved out the best of the opportunities with Jordan W, Joe H and Ben D all guilty of missing good chances. South Shore was given a lifeline when they pulled a goal back outstripping the Foxhall defence to slot home past the unlucky Joe W. (1-2) Again Joe W was called into action when he made a fantastic stop which resulted in him bruising his side when he collided with the post while making the save; the only disappointing thing was he never caught it. It was a lack lustre performance from Foxhall but they made the game save in the dying minutes when a strong run from Joe H found James D who then chipped in a peach of a cross for the on rushing Jordan W to head home (Ronaldo style) from six inches (approximately!) 1-3. The game then fizzled out with both sides cancelling each other out for the remainder of the match. Summary:Not the ideal performance especially with the semi-final only a week away, in a match that was not so good at times from both sides, it was a case of the lads just doing enough when they had to. Mark S was lynch pin in midfield and was always in the thick of things for Foxhall. ----The views expressed on this page are those of the contributor and the opinions expressed are not necessarily those of the BBC.last updated: 18/04/2008 at 11:05 Have Your SaySEE ALSOYou are in: Lancashire > Junior Football > Junior Football News > South Shore Youth 1 Foxhall 3 |
