Foxhall - U14s LFA Cup

Foxhall are back - with a Lancashire FA Youth Cup win over Walton...

Europe again beckoned for high flyers Foxhall against a very strong and physical Walton Le Dale team from the Blackburn and Darwen League.

Foxhall JFC

Foxhall won the early battles and put Foxhall in good stead with a more determined and fluent style of play which had Walton on the back foot as early as the third minute. When a fantastic ball through from Mark S found the lively Jordan W who then fired over to Ben D to fire a Rooney type effort (v arsenal!) which was superbly saved by the keeper.

Foxhall had to be alert with the tricky right winger who seemed to be their outlet going forward but was marshalled superbly by Fran D who had a tough time all afternoon. It was a battle that Fran won and it frustrated the Walton side as they looked for inspiration in other areas which proved fruitless.

It was Foxhall that drew first blood as Jordan W sweetly lobbed the keeper with a delicate chip that after a through ball from Mark S (0-1). Two minutes later Chris W waltzed past three defenders to steer home past the bewildered keeper to put Foxhall 2-0 up. This fired up Walton and it resulted in the ref having a few words with more than one of their players for the reckless challenges that went unpunished. Sam W was on the receiving end of what could have been a leg breaker but somehow timed his jump to perfection to evade such a bad two footed tackle that could of ended his playing days.

Isaac G and John W coped exceptionally with their recently released forward from Man United and limited him with half chances all afternoon (well done you two!). Ollie C and Mark S were inspirational and covered every inch of grass on this massive pitch with their interchange of quick passing which Walton had no answer to. Joe H - who mesmerises his opponents with his fantastic dribbling abilities - was also in the thick of every Foxhall attacking moves. Ht: 0-2

Minutes into the second half Foxhall increased their lead when some excellent one touch football involving Mark, Ollie and Chris W who squared the ball to the lightning pace of Jack W who made no mistake with a simple tap in after some breathtaking football. (0-3)

Not to be rolled over, Walton rallied and should of cut the deficit but only to be denied by a fantastic double save from James G. He was magnificent all afternoon producing saves at vital moments within the game.

Chris W had his best game for Foxhall since his summer move from Poulton Youth - terrorising his marker throughout and was at the forefront of all of Foxhall's attack. Ben D played liked a battling ram as the sole striker up front and proved the perfect foe as he fought off three defenders to neatly play the ball into Tyler's path. Tyler cooley lobbed the defender and raced on to his own pass to chip the keeper with an exquisite lob for Foxhall's fourth (0-4).

Walton again tried to mix it and it was Ollie C that was on the end of some of the ball antics which led to him leaving the field. However, Foxhall stood firm and continued to play the way they know with one touch football the key - which brought the fifth goal. Chris W evaded a couple of markets to thread the ball to James D whose first time sot was well saved but it squirmed up to him again and he gently tapped home for Foxhall's fifth.(0-5)

Again Tyler nearly scored but was denied by a fabulous stop from the keeper. Just near the end Isaac G headed a free kick off the line to give no joy to the Walton team proving that there was no way through today for the home side.

Full Time: 0-5

Summary:

After last week's setback it was the perfect opportunity to bounce back and that they did with almost a faultless performance. The only criticism that we may have is that we had the ball in the air too much when a simple pass to feet was more appropriate but then again we can't have everything, can we?

A special mention to Mark “MAKELE” who was faultless all afternoon and Jordan W who thoroughly deserved his brace. Well done everyone!
