Pádraig Fryers

Pádraig Fryers is ainm dom. Tá mé sé bliana déag d'aois. Rugadh mé in Iarthar Bhéal Feirste.

Bím ag imirt do Ghort na Móna agus déanaim lár na páirce dóibh agus an bhliain seo thosaigh mé ag imirt d'Aontroim.

An rud is fearr faoin chlub ná go bhfuil mo chuid cairde uilig, sin an áit a mbíonn siad agus, a bheith thuas ansin chóir a bheith gach lá de mo shaol, sin an rud is mó atá agam. Sin é, sin mo shaol - spórt, Gort na Móna. Piocadh mé le bheith ar fhoireann Aontroma. Bíonn trialacha acu gach cúpla seachtain agus thar na seachtainí sin bíonn siad ag gearradh na n-uimhreacha síos go bhfuil an painéal ceart acu agus nuair a fuair mé an scairt go raibh mé ar an fhoireann, bhí mé bródúil as.

An chéad uair a roghnaíodh mé don chontae, mar bhí mé chomh hóg sin, sílim go raibh sé faoi cheathair déag.

Bhí mo thuismitheoirí bródúil asam. Dúirt siad féin, bhí a fhios acu go raibh mé ag dul a fháil ar an fhoireann.

An rud is fearr faoin pheil ná do chairde. Bíonn a lán cairde nua agat. Faigheann sé daoine as na sráideanna. Bíonn daoine ag traenáil agus muna raibh siad ag traenáil b'fhéidir go mbeadh siad ina seasamh ar na sráideanna, ag ól agus ag déanamh rud ar bith leis an saol s'acu.

An rud is measa faoin traenáil ná bheith ag traenáil sa drochaimsir agus sa gheimhreadh freisin nuair atá an fhearthainn ag titim anuas agus tá gach duine amuigh sioctha, fuar! Níl suim ar bith ag duine ar bith.

Taobh istigh de dheich mbliana ba mhaith liom bheith ag imirt ar an leibhéal is airde don chumann agus don chontae.

Pádraig Fryers

My name is Pádraig Fryers. I'm sixteen. I was born in West Belfast.

I play for Gort na Móna and I do midfield for them and this year I began playing for Antrim.

The best thing about the club is all my friends, that's where they usually are, and I'm up there almost every day of my life, that's the most important thing I have. That's it, that's my life - sport, Gort na Móna. I was picked to be on the Antrim team. They have trials every couple of weeks and over the weeks they cut the numbers down until they have the right panel and when I got the call that I was on the team, I was very proud of it.

The first time I was selected for the county because I was so young. I think that it was under fourteen.

My parents were proud of me. They said themselves, they knew that I was going to get on the team.

The best thing about football is your friends. You have a lot of new friends. It gets people off the streets, people are training and if they weren't training they'd maybe be standing on the streets, drinking and doing nothing with their lives.

The worst thing about training is training in the bad weather and in the winter also when it's raining down and everybody's freezing cold! No-one's interested.

Inside ten years I'd like to be playing at the highest level for the club and the county.
