Prostitutes call for the same pension rights as footballers

Prostitutes in the Netherlands have gone to court to fight for the same pensions rights as footballers, who can put up to 5.000 euros a month tax-free into their pension plans.

Their lawyers says that, like footballers, prostitutes do difficult physical work in the prime of their lives and their careers don't tend to last long.

Prostitution is legal in the Netherlands and those registered are required to pay taxes; they are entitled to a regular pension, but campaigners say it's not enough.

Although Amsterdam's Red Light district does have older prostitutes working, the majority tend to be in their early twenties.

PSK minta hak pensiun yang sama dengan pesepakbola

Para Pekerja Seks Komersial (PSK) di Belanda maju ke pengadilan untuk memperjuangkan hak pensiun mereka agar sama dengan pemain sepak bola, yang bisa memasukkan hingga 5.000 euro bebas pajak ke dana pensiun mereka.

Pengacara mereka mengatakan bahwa seperti halnya para pemain bola, PSK melakukan pekerjaan yang sulit secara fisik di usia terbaik mereka dan karier mereka cenderung tidak bertahan lama.

US tech executives urge Obama to curb surveillance

The heads of leading American technology companies have met President Obama and pressed him to protect privacy by curbing the government's extensive electronic surveillance programme.

In a statement after a private meeting at the White House, the executives, including those from Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft, said they had urged Mr Obama to move aggressively on reforming the surveillance of US citizens.

The meeting came a day after a federal judge ruled that the National Security Agency had violated the constitution by collecting huge amounts of personal phone and voice data.
