| | | Tell me more! | The imposing Victoria Tower on Castle Hill overlooks Huddersfield and was built just before 1900 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign. The tower stands 900ft above sea level and can be seen from miles around. it stands on an old Stone and Iron Age site. Inside the tower is an exhibition which holds the history for the last 4,000 years. The name Castle Hill comes from when the De Laci family built a Norman castle on the hill. | Getting there... | Castle Hill, Almondbury, Huddersfield.
