Students could practice using a digital camera, taking similar photos and varying the level of exposure using both composition and camera skills. They should keep a record of what they did and what the results were. The class could also build experience of manipulating exposure using graphics editing programmes. Taking deliberately underexposed or overexposed images, they could attempt to alter these while maintaining a realistic effect.
