Poster layout
Description
A Bitesize guide to using a grid to design a poster.
Classroom Ideas
Set students the task of designing a poster. It could be for an upcoming event in the school, or local area, or a fictional concert, play, sports match, race, or a competition. They should try out a similar process of using a grid to compose their design. The grid can be used as a basis for experimenting with proportions, ratios and as a way of suggesting lines that draw the eye to different parts of the poster. They should then write up a summary of their thinking process and design choices. Students could also study existing posters, analysing their layout and trying to work out underlying structures and organising principles.
