The word Lebenslauf literally means 'life course'. So, what has been the course of your life up until now? What have you done? What have you achieved? All this is important information that needs to be included in a CV.

You could include information about subjects you have studied in the past and subjects you are studying now.

  • Fächer, die ich gelernt habe: Deutsch, Kochen und Religion.
  • Fächer, die ich lerne: Mathe, Englisch, Mathe, Chemie, Biologie, Physik und Spanisch.

Did you know?

Grades are particularly important in German-speaking schools, as there is a system of das Sitzenbleiben, which literally means 'stay sitting'.

This means that if you fail too many subjects, you have to re-sit the whole year. If it looks like you may be in danger of failing the year twice, you will probably transfer to a different type of school.
