Did you know?

Remember that in German, you always say ich lerne – I learn – when you write about the school subjects you're studying.

You would not say ich studiere until you're at university and talking about what you study.

Likewise, when you're at school, you are always called a Schüler (male pupil) or Schülerin (female pupil). When you go to university, you become a Student or Studentin (female student).

Pupils learn and students study is a good way to remember which verb to use.
