Ramsay police probe fraud links
Andrew Ramsay
Mr Ramsay was abducted by men posing as police officers
Police investigating the disappearance of a Glasgow accountant have questioned a number of people arrested in connection with suspected VAT fraud.

A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police said it was routine to question people in police custody in connection with other ongoing investigations.

Andrew Ramsay, 52, was handcuffed outside his Glasgow home and bundled into a dark car by two men in February.

Last week 22 people were arrested in connection with an alleged VAT fraud.

The arrests were made by police investigating a type of offence known as carousel fraud in which goods are repeatedly exported and imported and unpaid VAT collected.

Raids took place in Glasgow, Manchester and London.

The operation was the biggest ever undertaken by HM Revenue & Customs and used more than 60 search warrants.

Mr Ramsay was abducted by two men posing as police officers in the Cardonald area on 22 February.

The case featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme and a 5,000 reward has been offered for information about Mr Ramsay's abduction.
