Police stop public in kidnap plea
Andrew Ramsay

Police have been quizzing motorists and the public at the spot where a man was abducted a week earlier.

Andrew Ramsay, 51, was bundled into his car by two men posing as police officers in Glasgow's Cardonald area at 1900 GMT on Wednesday, 23 February.

Detectives questioned people on Berryknowes Road, where Mr Ramsay was abducted, to trace potential witnesses.

The father-of-two is an unemployed accountant and was expected to give evidence in a forthcoming trial.

Officers stopped members of the public between 1845 GMT and 1930 GMT.

'Football traffic'

Det Supt Willie Prendergast has been leading the investigation.

He said: "The area of Berryknowes Road would have been busy with football traffic going to Rangers/Villareal last Wednesday.

"It is important that we interview motorists and pedestrians who may have been in the area on the night Andrew was abducted."

The operation comes a day after Mr Ramsay's brother Stewart, 44, appealed for the accountant's release.

He also joined police in appealing directly to Mr Ramsay to make contact if released.
