Drivers using a main route in Stoke-on-Trent are being warned to allow extra journey time as major roadworks enter the final stages. One lane on the A500 southbound will be closed around the Stoke Road area.
Two roundabouts are being removed and replaced by underpasses. The work should be completed later this year.
Roadworks have been ongoing since August 2004 for the 40m Pathfinder Project, which aims to ease congestion and aid Stoke's economic regeneration.
Later this week, drivers should be able to use a new slip road built for the underpasses.
The Highways Agency said delays were expected.
