New road to open for first time
Drivers will be able to use a new section of the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent for the first time.

The completed stretch of road will be in use on Sunday between the Stoke Road and City Road roundabouts.

Roadworks have been ongoing since August 2004 for the 40m Pathfinder Project which aims to ease congestion and aid Stoke's economic regeneration.

Motorists going northbound between the two roundabouts will use the new section of the permanent link road.

Southbound traffic is being directed onto the former northbound carriageway.

The Highways Agency are advising drivers to take care driving through the roadworks until they are familiar with the new layout.

Traffic management teams have been working through Friday and Saturday night preparing for a changeover of traffic lanes between Stoke Road and City Road.

Pedestrians will still be able to cross at Stoke Road and City Road
