Today we went to the Bird's Nest for the athletics. We had a fantastic day and cheered on the British. After a great day at the nest we relaxed at the Summer palace and botanical gardens. Handball Match Report by Jess from Saddleworth School, Oldham We watched the handball match of Egypt versus Germany. I thought it was a very interesting match and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Thinking back now the match was a very close, thus the nail biting tension. At half-time the scores were tied at 14, with neither side showing any difference in ability. The game set off again at the sound of the horn, the players having notched up a gear. The match continued to be a close game until the final minutes when, at full time, Germany stormed ahead, gaining 2 more goals. The final score was as follows: | We met because he was told off for having a flag that was too big | Germany - 25 Egypt - 23
Along the way we met some very friendly German spectators in the stands, who helped us decide who was the best player. We met because he was told off for having a flag that was too big. We found out that strangely, number 18 on the Egyptian team actually plays for Germany! Clearly the best player on the German side was the goalkeeper, who was unmoved as the ball hit him several times, keeping Germany in safe hands. We thought the best Egyptian player was Zaky, who scored an amazing 7 goals in the first half alone. He was a really athletic man, but was highly temperamental, and was carded several times. Rowing By Liam from Djanogly City Academy, West Sussex On 11th august a group of students from Djanogly City Academy went to the rowing event. It was really good and exiting cheering for GB as they won the x8 mens. I stood right at the railings asking for autographs from any of the athletes. First I got an Argentinean official to come but she didn't give me her autograph, instead she gave me a badge representing the Argentinean Olympic Committee. I was successful in contacting one of the Great Britain officials and he accepted our tickets to get the rowing team autographs and send them to our school. The official commented on the fact the team were confident which was evident in their terrific performance claiming a first, a second and a third.
