Hello from a very wet Beijing, We thought we would let you know a little about our Olympic Experience. So far the trip has been amazing and has been full of highs but we all agree that out best day was the 12th August when we went to watch the men's basketball game between China and Spain. It was a really gripping game and we were on the edge of our seats throughout the match. | The crowd was absolutely deafening as it shouted support for the home side by chanting "Go Go China" |
The crowd was absolutely deafening as it shouted support for the home side by chanting "Go Go China" and for three quarters it seemed that they would do the impossible and beat world champions Spain, but a thrilling fourth quarter from the Spanish side saw them pull back a 14 point deficit and equal the game in the last 10 seconds. With the score 72-72 the game went into extra time and the Spaniards carried on their recovery to win the match 85-75. This made our teacher Miss Esteve really happy as she was routing for the Spanish side (she is Spanish after all). We had never seen a game of basketball before but we are definitely hooked now. | We all looked fantastic in our plastic ponchos supplied courtesy of the organisers. |
Today, Thursday, we went to watch the rowing but unfortunately due to the thunder and lightning storm taking place at the venue it was cancelled. Still we had quite an adventure getting there and we were still able to soak up (literally) the atmosphere. We all looked fantastic in our plastic ponchos supplied courtesy of the organisers. Other highlights of the trip have been the food, the sights and the new friends we have made. It has been an unforgettable trip and we have now Hong Kong to look forward to.
