The United Kingdom will lie in a south to southwesterly airflow during the next 24 hours. A developing deep area of low pressure over the northeast Atlantic will pass close to northwestern Ireland and northwestern Scotland later today and during tonight. This will bring gales to many areas, as well as storm or violent storm force winds to the coasts of northwestern Scotland.
