| Thursday, 11 July, 2002, 21:40 GMT 22:40 UK Rosset upsets Pavel Rosset (right) rediscovered from to beat Pavel Marc Rosset produced the surprise of the second round to beat fourth-seed Andrei Pavel at the Swiss Open. The Swiss wildcard advanced to the quarter-finals after a 7-5 7-6 (7-1) win ove the Romanian. But second seed Juan Carlos Ferrero lost 5-7 6-4 6-3 to fellow Spaniard David Sanchez as just three of the top eight seeds made it through to the quarter-finals. Also making the last eight was two-time champion Alex Corretja. The Spaniard, seeded eighth, beat 1997 winner Felix Mantilla 6-4 6-4. Seventh-seed Gaston Gaudio of Argentina also made the quarter-finals, beating Russian Mikhail Youzhny 7-6 (7-3) 6-4. Rosset said the win helped him regain his confidence: "It's a great opportunity for me receiving a wildcard at a Swiss tournament. "I've been serving big. My second serve has been good. That's very important for my game and my confidence." He will meet Gaudio in the quarter-finals.
